What is a wedding celebrant?
Someone who has completed a wedding celebrant course and is certified to officiate your special day. A little bit like a registrar at the local town hall or a vicar at church but less informal, without the same obligatory script used for every couple. Anyone can sign up, BUT it takes a creative mind to compose your journey and stand before your guests to narrate your story. A wedding celebrant needs to ask questions about you both. An EXCELLENT celebrant should be curious and dig deep to ensure the little details are embodied in the script. A wedding celebrant caters to your needs. An EXCELLENT celebrant will keep regular contact with you and be able to edit parts that you are not happy with without being offended. It also helps to be a bit extroverted, to capture and keep the attention of your guests.
What does a wedding celebrant do?
In a nutshell, a wedding celebrant will create a special and personalised ceremony for you and your intended. It helps to have an interest in other people's lives! After meeting you both and getting to know the details of your relationship, I go away and compose your whole journey. I will write the ceremony and guide you with your vows and readings. On the day, I will guide you throughout the whole ceremony, making you feel comfortable and at ease so that you can enjoy your day.
Will the ceremony make the marriage legal?
It does not make the marriage legal. You will need to pop down to the registry office a few days before or a few days after to get the legal bit done by a registrar and receive your marriage certificate. It takes about 20 minutes. Does the ceremony have to be religious? Not at all. That’s what’s so great about having a wedding celebrant. Your ceremony is what YOU want it to be. Some couples may have different religious or spiritual views. Maybe one of you would like to include a spiritual reading of your choice. This is YOUR day and is all about you.
When should we book you?
As soon as you have a date in mind to avoid disappointment. I'll be delighted to add your special date to my calendar. Do we need to pay a deposit? Yes, please. £100. It will be included in the total price.
What if we change our mind and need to cancel you?
There might be numerous reasons that you need to cancel. Life happens. Your deposit covers cancellations if I'm notified promptly and you haven’t received confirmation that the script is completed. A bespoke script usually takes 3-4 weeks from start to finish.
What if I cancel and can’t conduct the ceremony?
Life can take an unexpected turn and require us to change commitments. Rest assured, your deposit will be refunded.
If the ceremony script is completed, you can keep it for someone else to read.
